中央本線 奈良井駅から降りてすぐに宿場町があります。

Today, I’d like to write about Narai-juku in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture.
As soon as you step off the train at JR Chūō Main Line’s Narai Station, you’ll find yourself in the historic post town.
奈良井宿について Narai-juku
奈良井宿について (日本語)
奈良井宿（ならいじゅく）は、江戸時代に栄えた中山道の宿場町で、現在の長野県塩尻市に位置しています。江戸から京へ向かう重要な道筋にあるこの宿場は、「中山道六十九次」の中で最も長い宿場町として知られ、商業や文化の交流地として多くの旅人や商人に利用されました。
現在、奈良井宿には江戸時代の風情が色濃く残っており、歴史的な建物や街並みが保存されています。重要伝統的建造物群保存地区にも指定されており、訪れる人々は、当時の日本の生活や文化に触れることができます。街道沿いには、古い家屋を利用したお店や宿泊施設が立ち並び、手工芸品や伝統的な日本食などを楽しむことができます。
Narai-juku (English)
Narai-juku is a historic post town along the Nakasendo, a major route connecting Edo (modern-day Tokyo) and Kyoto during the Edo period. Located in present-day Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, it is known for being the longest post town among the sixty-nine stations of the Nakasendo. Narai-juku was a vital hub for trade and culture, frequented by travelers and merchants on their journeys.
Today, Narai-juku retains much of its Edo-period charm, with well-preserved historical buildings and streets. It is designated as a Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of Japan’s past. Along the main street, traditional shops, inns, and restaurants operate in old houses, offering handmade crafts and local cuisine.

高級品ではありませんが、比較的安価でかわいいものが手に入ります。

I highly recommend Hanano-ya.
They sell items like mugs, spoons, forks, and bowls.
While these aren’t luxury items, they are cute and relatively affordable.

Next, there’s Saita Lacquerware Shop.
They offer a wide variety of plain lacquerware at reasonable prices. Unlike typical souvenir shops, this is more of a specialty store, offering high-quality Japanese dishware and other valuable items, each priced accordingly.

Nagoya Station → JR Chūō Main Line, Wide View Shinano Limited Express (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes) → Kiso-Fukushima Station → JR Chūō Main Line (approx. 20 minutes) → Narai Station

奈良井宿周辺には有料駐車場もありますが、3か所の無料駐車場があります。
混雑しないない時期や時間帯は泊めれちゃいますよ！
While there are paid parking lots around Narai-juku, there are also three free parking areas. During less busy seasons or times, you should be able to park without any trouble!
木曽の大橋東側駐車場（国道側）
奈良井宿のシンボルである木曽の大橋が駐車場のすぐ横にあります。国道沿いにあるので見つけやすい場所にあり、無料で利用できます。奈良井宿までは橋を渡る必要がありますが、国道沿いにあるので分かりやすいロケーションが魅力的です。

Kiso no Ohashi East Side Parking (National Route Side)
The Kiso no Ohashi, a symbol of Narai-juku, is located right next to this parking lot. It’s easy to find as it’s situated along the national route and is free to use. To reach Narai-juku, you’ll need to cross the bridge, but the convenient location along the road makes it very accessible.
